Kinda. It's fine to care, and it has a positive effect, but just be aware it's probably not much, compared to the gazillions of emissions\waste\etc. created by industry and other sources.
Honestly it seems a lot of people do that stuff more for the feeling of being a "good citizen" rather than a desire to help the environment.
You should always do the right thing, regardless.
