I would not take Gilbert at his word considering he has been in love with her since she was 11 and he's in his 30s, and is obviously batshit insane. But assuming he's telling the truth, they knew each other from when Ken was 11 to when she was 14, so her reading loli anywhere at that point isn't that weird, it's bad but it's something she obviously grew out of, if that is actually what she was looking at as a literal child. It's a totally different thing than an adult looking at loli manga, because the kid is innocently trying to see someone who is their own age.
