I agree she used it to stack up pity points from her simps even back then on instagram, but in your opinion how did she use it as an excuse for being the way she is? I always thought it was more like it fucked her up fundamentally but maybe not consciously, seeing as she had just lost a major figure and moral guide in her life that she couldn't make proud or who could keep her under control anymore, so she started doing all of this questionable shit which started to become increasingly worse, resulting in who she is now.
