I'm just going to take a stab at it and suggest that maybe she does have problems with her mother and her parents getting a divorce. She mentioned this before but didn't go into detail about it. Judging by her younger half-brother's age, Ashley's mom definitely did cheat on her dad with some other man. I think Ashley doesn't feel loved and she probably wants to be in a relationship that makes her feel that way, so she goes after the first person that gives her attention but as soon as she sees a red flag, she shuts them out immediately. I'm like this as well and she seems to be that way too. Honestly, I've never had any trouble getting in a relationship, but I've never been too impressed with the women that have come my way so I shut them out soon after and they eventually lose interest or get angry with me and call me a weirdo. I've been called gay a lot by crazy girls, but I'm not gay, I just don't want to end up like my father and be with someone like my mother. Also, she might feel like the middle child, being looked over by her parents and family. So this may have left her very pessimistic in regards to those things, even though deep down she wants this, so she seeks atttention elsewhere since she can't get it from those she truly wants it from.
