I've also done them in a trail with some oil in the middle of the weber, but you have to keep an eye on them otherwise they end up looking like nigger toes pretty quickly.
If you're going to that trouble, slice up some baby taters into thin discs and shallow fry them, rather than using commercial frozen chips.
