On the night of May 23rd 2023 a Floridian bar was alive with locals and regulars. An unlikely bunch of people who, later that night, would be hailed as heroes. Propped up at the bar was Manny Hidalgo, along with his cat who accompanied him wherever he went. Also, at Banditos Bar in Port Charlotte, was army veteran Trent Rozier who was enjoying a few drinks with his fiancé.

As the bar was about to close up for the night, 23 year old, Jordan Rivera headed to the bathroom. He had been enjoying a few drinks and was ready to head home but, after walking to the rest room he found that the queue was too long and so he decided to head outside. He left the bar and walked around the back, searching for a quiet spot.
