After the Cuban takeover, in the early 60's the communist movements just started to rise, they didn't mean immediate threat, but what's more important the US was busy escalate the war in Vietnam. As I quickly checked around I saw a coup d'etat happened in Bolivia in '64, and many suspected CIA involvement there too, but for now it seems it's largely baseless.
