>>39506>Academy>In the Oral History most interviewees praise them as an "elite" forceMaybe their greenness made them careless which could seem recklessness from the outside. And recklessness is just enough on many occasions. From the options:
1. fight;
2. pretend to fight;
3. flee;
4. surrender;
... most soldiers opt with pretending and those who posture better oftentimes will be the winner of the confrontation. Fighting SS units are also considered elite and while they supposedly got more thorough training (did they get more than Wehrmacht?) their real use was in their perceived fanaticism and bravery when they fought when others might knew better.
Well, ofc maybe they also had more killers, or those who were able to kill easier due to dehumanization of opponents.And maybe since they were in training they might have obeyed orders more readily. And with quality officers to follow this part can play out for their advantage.
>who actually served there are more pessimisticLooking back one notice it easier his own inexperience, "yeah, we were so clueless rookies we wouldn't have found our own dicks"
