There's this idea that their Stone Cold Crazy was the first thrash metal song, was promoted by Metallica, who also covered it, and somehow find it's way onto the page of metal magazines too.
Now listening Sheer Heart Attack with its punkish quickness and hard riffs, I think it isn't an impossible hypothesis. Maybe that whole album has this characteristic, I haven't heard it yet.
