Gazprom used some clever tricks to increase prices, like limiting Ukrainian transit and meddling with future contracts. Surprisingly it happened just few moment before Nord Stream 2 launch - an event that can easily solve all these problems if EU politicians wouldn't oppose much (although they already mostly supporting it). So now there is no way to oppose NS2.
