The UK govt has seen a bunch of officials resign in the last day or two. By some count it is a record rate. Boris Johnson refused calls from his ex-ministers to step down. Then he resigned. Or "resigned". His administration is said to be on borrowed time but he vowed to continue in charge at least for a few more months when his party will decide who to put in his place. Apparently they will not call elections.

Iran has announced that a number of foreign diplomats were arrested after being caught "taking soil samples from a restricted area". A desert region where allegedly missiles are tested. Among those detained is a deputy ambassador of the UK and the husband of a woman diplomat working at the embassy of Austria. Video related also shows Polish documents.
Crisis in Sri Lanka continues. In some places there has been breakdown of public security and, according to claims, enraged mobs lashed out against "wealthy people".
OPEC's secretary general has died of "unknown causes" just "hours after meeting nigeria's president and speaking at an energy-related meeting". Hmm. Context: for months the usa (mainly) has been pressuring them to lower petroleum prices, e.g. by increasing production
