In 1996, Brown married surgeon Patrick Graves Jackson, a Boston Brahmin who is a descendant of Continental Congress delegate Jonathan Jackson, and is related to U.S. Supreme Court justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.[107][108][109] Through her marriage, Jackson is related to former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.[110] The couple has two daughters, Leila and Talia.[111][112] Jackson is a non-denominational Protestant.[113]
