P2P is just not worth it for most stuff, because it needs a lot of hardware and network resources. In other words: it needs a botnet computer! But you can run a text BBS on any old 8080 or Z80-based CP/M computer with 64 KB RAM and a 2400 baud modem. In fact, you can even do it with less memory and a slower modem. Gotta have a floppy drive though, cassette tape is just too fucking slow and error-prone for this kind of mission critical hobby application. Yeah, just fork the money for a floppy drive, it's totally worth it, man!
