It's about damn time there was an intelligent response to this, contrary from the "it's a hoax" Trump believing fools. There is one point I need to reclarify to you in response to this:

DIY cloth masks are completely ineffective. That is what the hoax is, the reliability of cloth masks and delusional people falling for government shilled propaganda that those will protect them. As mentioned earlier in the thread, particles 0.04 to 0.2 μm can penetrate surgical masks; .08 to .14 μm is the size of Covid-19 particles; cloth masks filter 30% of airborne particles 50 μm and higher (useless_; dishcloth filters 60% of .10 μm and up (40% absorbing and between .08 and .10 gets in and out); coffee filters 20 μm and up (useless). So it's either strictly N95 and ignore they should only go to medical workers, or PM 2.5 with activated carbon filters of five layers filtering 99% of .1 μm (meaning between .08 and .1 μm still gets through in and out), or full-on P100 masks. The saliva particles carrying Covid-19 hang in the air for up to 3 hours and can also get in through your eyes. You need eye covering as well, which is something else the government does not address. The actual hoax is that people are being tricked into believing their cloth or surgical masks are effective while they're encouraged to go out under the illusion of safety and continue to spread the virus.
