"Gender is a social construct."

Now, I tried to refute it from two young prats half my age. The same cunts who keep saying "Men are inferior to women" using that gendered terminology but then turn around and reject gender when it's convenient to them. All I get in response is "Sex is real but gender has been a social construct forever" and "I have a degree in gender studies".

Gender, the term, the word, has been around in France since the 1300s as gendre and genre to mean race, stock, family, kind, rank, order, species and male or female sex. In the 15th century, gender became the synonym for sex because sex took on an erotic meaning. This I know. This does not convince the stupid twats.

As much as I'd like to pop these retards in the mouth and tell them to shut the fuck up, what I need to know is: When did this dumb "gender is a social construct" claim come around and from where? Originally?
