Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in Guelph, ON Friday to announce the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF), $4 billion in government spending that the Prime Minister's website says "will provide funding for local governments to fast track the creation of 100,000 new homes across Canada. Local governments are now invited to develop innovative action plans, in line with the flexible criteria, to remove barriers to building more homes, faster."

He made the declaration in front of a row of construction workers who will presumably benefit from the construction of new homes and with local MP Lloyd Longfield (L-Guelph) by his side.

But when Trudeau decided to go hyper-political with his speech, defending his selection of former Governor General David Johnston as his "special rapporteur" to investigate Chinese election interference and to attack Conservative Party opposition to it, the construction workers indicated their disapproval and Longfield looked uncomfortable throughout Trudeau's increasingly partisan speech.
