Reasons like today are why I stick with events for so long. While the flooding is what captured the eyes all around the world, those who didn't get flooded out were dodging trees falling all around them as Hurricane Helene produced winds over 100mph throughout the mountains surrounding Asheville. This amount of deforestation is truly unprecedented and this landscape is forever changed as the blue ridge parkway remains closed.
Its truly saddening to see what the trees are supposed to look like with prime fall color surrounded by such devastation.
