Insofar as the masonry, that is very much recorded history. You basically only have to follow which rites took over where, and what they were based on. Oriental Rite(Sufi), Scottish Rite (Templar), the Thelema(Egyptian) Rite and so forth.
Masonry is commonly described as the ancient 4chan, an "open" temple in which the schizos dispute their beliefs/secrets. It's also just the cult of the oligarchs, there are cults above those cults.

Insofar as their methods, the truth is that they are dumb. They aim to install a whole belief system and language to reproduce the enlightment of the prophet. The Jungian individuation method is FAR superior by using your own existing belief system and inner language. It also does not rely on possession.
