You have to wonder if "love" in the way most NPCs are capable of it is actually desirable at all, but at that age you can't make many distinctions or see nuance and it just feels like this super important thing you're missing out on. Either way that's just the first example that came to me. I don't necessarily approve of what he did, nor do I think much was lost, but there was no good reason he or I or anyone else couldn't have love. It's not like women are a scarce resource in terms of sheer numbers. But this world is brutally arbitrary and unfair at best and just plain evil at worst.
