That can be malicious, or just normal behavior. I always benefited from standing my ground but not closing up to normies, you show them a little comproimise and they usually do the same back and take interest in your stuff. It can get too much too, they some times want to become gamer nerds and such too hard.
Just think of it as tribal relations.
