That's true, Skyrim has kind of a hybrid system where there are character levels and skill trees and points but you also get better at certain things by practicing them (not as many as the games I'm talking about, where even things like swimmming were their own skill that you had to train). I didn't play vanilla WoW but I know it had a hybrid system too, and there were still remainders of it in WotLK, but they got rid of the skill levelling entirely later. I think zoomers just expect every MMO to work like retail WoW now, even this guy who runs a channel about MMOs and really should know better. but that's "content creators" for you, they never know shit about the stuff their content is based on
