I did a search with Astrabot and found "something". I still can't tell what they are, but they match the concept and present some kind of explanation for cattle mutilations. It seems it's only hard for us to imagine what this is about because of our concept of "modernity" being a state of mind where technology has replaced religion. Someone used to post on /x/ about spaceships made from clay, ceramics, built by hand by "primitive" people. There is nothing saying, given enough time, that someone with the mentality of steppe negroes would be able to create something like this through spiritual guidance, while still being clueless about the "science."
