All American combat manuals I've seen are absolute shit tbh. The only good one that I got something out of was a series on youtube from the 1960s about protective driving, how to shoot a handgun and why and where to use a shotgun. Anything else they have no clue about. Their WW2 close combat manual does everything wrong. Complicated methods that takes years to master but give you confidence enough to do something really stupid after trying it once. Boxing at close range. Wrestling. All the things that modern martial artists tell you to not do in a self defense situation, they teach in the US army. Boxing, why is it bad? Most people can't form a fist properly and will harm their wrist at first punch. It also can't be easily used at very short range. Knocking someone out is not easy.
Complicated take downs never work. Knife defense moves that only works if your opponent isn't resisting. And so on.
