On the topic of language, today I suddenly had the term "adverb" explained to me by a radio professor in a local language show, in a way that actually made sense. How is it possible that no one, not a single fucking person in all my life has been able to explain, to nail down, in a simple way, what an "adverb" is? OMFG.

An adjective is a description of a substantive, such as "green".

An adverb is a description of a verb, such as "fast".

You can run fast, but you cannot run green. That's how you can tell the difference. In English, a lot of adjectives are also adverbs, which confuses it a bit, but the rule is this simple.

How is it possible that not a single teacher in all these years have been able to just say this?
"Oh it's a word in conjunction with verbs"
"It's before or after a verb"

No it isn't, it's the same as an adjective, but adjectives are for things, adverbs are for activities.

What the fuck is wrong with people.
