Feminists used to complain about women in ads here locally, A LOT. Every year some clothing companies had underwear ads in cities, and these were blamed for car accidents when distracted men stare at them, suicides when women look at them and feel bad about themselves and Idk what the fuck else they came up with.
I never liked those ads either, but whatever. Huge ad boards in old cities just looks bad overall.
Then IKEA picked up on this, and while expanding their business into the arab world, they simply removed all women from their catalog. Because muslims would be mad if there were exposed women (not wearing hijab) in the advertising, and feminists had been complaining about women in ads since forever.
This still wasn't good enough for the feminists. Now they complained about the lack of women in ads. Can't ever make them happy.
The result:
15 years later and the routine ad has men, boys and little girls, with some literal granny in the background, blurred so you don't look at her by mistake.
