i dont think they sell older versions anymore so you probably have 5th edition which is already 10 years old but you can check. i havent even looked into these books yet as they're for the dm. no idea what the differences are to older editions. i think it only matters for character evolution so our girls can reach their desired subclass or specialization thats not in older versions or not available without addon like tashas cauldron. most important for Cat and Yulya.
