In the other group, we hold back a little on using things that need a rest to recharge because often when resting directly after a fight we get ambushed again. We got ambushed when looting corpses ffs.

So when they're around and they succeed stealth, it doesn't matter whether you're wary or not, but they'd need a way to sneak up, so in thos case they were hidden in the trees or behind trees.

The chance of being surprised is something like that and everyone got a separate roll. That only happens if the enemy is planning an ambush so they'd havd to see/hear you coming. It's hard not to hear a loud cart rumbling through.

Otherwise yes, do it!

Try to flank but be wary of opportunity attacks because they get a free shot on you if you walk away unless you havd the disengage skill or misty step. Technically you could pop that ring to escape but I think it needs an action.
