I don't understand what this means?

>Flurry of Blows. You can spend 1 Discipline Point to make two Unarmed Strikes as a Bonus Action.
These do not need to be directed at the same target. But I read flurry of blows is activated after you make a regular attack. So weapon first and then 2 punch attacks.
So what am I missing? It's 2 separate unarmed strikes as 2 bonus actions and costs 1 DP.
