Nothing unusual, compare these two pictures: one is layered, one is purpose built. They'll both be bulkier than wearing Nothing, they both have weight, the purpose built one could be considered on the armor, so no weight and no penalty. I wouldn't penalize a few layers, it's not a big deal if you've ever worn it IRL. AC boost is just on layer 1, other than Alicd, just undergarments guarantee AC 10 base. I think Ashley might have AC 11 from all her layers but I would have to find that. If you have three layers with at least one leathery then that should count aa AC11 base, but you lay for it by the weight of all the extra stuff.
Pic one shows layer 1: stockings, likely undergarments, gloves. Layer 2: boots, pants, long shirt. Layer 3, overcoat, hood or scarf, gaintlets. This girl will be fine down to -15C. If she put on a hooded cape, that's the 4th layer (wind/rain protection) she doesn't look over encumbered. I think Ashley has most of that, the outermost layers are cloak, robe, rain hood, the inner layers are gloves, stockings, undergarments. She has 3 layers.
Now look at the other guy, multiple layers of furs and leathers, likely a base layer, a mid layer and outer layer but they're purpose built. I'd say ok down to -40C. The next level would protect all skin 100% warm air feed, etc.
As for your current adventure, don't worry about that yet. The temperature will be warmer up on the trail where the goblin den is. You can go back to Neverwinter if you want after that or stay out of the colder regions. I don't recommend going in areas colder than you're set up for, you won't get far easily.
Also keep in mind equipment is expensive down here, expect 25-50% over the prices at Neverwinter.
