Both Damascus and Homs are goner, Assad's overthrowing was announced in local media. News about Russian forces evacuating.
To me it looks like a coup d'etat was prepared and ignited in parallel with the rebel offensive. I'd bet that:
- many SAA units were flipped, probably the middle ranking officers got approached;
- Israel had a part in the groundwork.
I don't know yet what happened to Assad and his family. I read they fled to Russia yesterday, but it seemed like gossip to me.

What will happen now?
Who will form new government? Can the various rebel groups compromise? What about ISIS? What will happen with the Kurds - I see Turkish forces bombarding them -, with the SDF, YPG whatnot? Will Americans protect them? Will foreign forces deploy into Syria anywhere (I think Americans already have bases in SE).
This is a blow to Russia's image. They couldn't protect their protegee, not with arms, nor diplomatically. Will things change elsewhere, in Africa perhaps?
Now Iran lost the land bridge to Lebanon. Will IDF be able to eradicate Hamas? Will the Gaza issue be closed soon? What about Lebanon and Hezbollah?
