Ex-CNN producer John Griffin pleads guilty to child sex crime

John Griffin, a former senior producer for CNN who was accused of child sex crimes, pleaded guilty in federal court after being charged a year ago, according to the Associated Press.

The federal government dropped two of the three charges against Griffin as part of the agreement. According to the AP, he "must pay full restitution to the victims, an amount which will be determined by the court" and "has agreed to forfeit a Tesla vehicle, and electronic items and to donate half of the proceeds from the sale of his Vermont home and the upcoming sale of a Mercedes vehicle into the court registry."

Griffin, 45, faces a minium of 10 years to life in prison and a fine up to $250,000. His sentencing is scheduled for March 2023.

For the seventh year in the past decade, Americans name dissatisfaction with the government as the nation’s top problem in 2022. An average of 19% of U.S. adults have mentioned some aspect of the government as the most important problem facing the country in Gallup’s 11 measures this year. The government edges out the high cost of living or inflation (16%) and outpaces the economy in general (12%). Further down the list, immigration, unifying the country, COVID-19, race relations and crime each average 4% to 6% of mentions in 2022.

The data show significant differences in partisans’ views of the nation’s top three problems. On average, Republicans are more likely than Democrats and independents to name the government as the most pressing issue in 2022.

In addition, Republicans are more than twice as likely as Democrats to name inflation and the economy in general, while the readings among independents fall between the two partisan groups.

Immigration is considered a top problem more so among Republicans than Democrats and independents, while the opposite is true of race relations and abortion issues.

Biden official hid info about meetings with George Soros, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi from public

Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler scrubbed mention of a meeting with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and key details of a meeting with billionaire Democratic donor George Soros from the public version of his calendar.

Gensler's public calendar showed that he only had a staff meeting on Aug. 7, 2021, while his private calendar lists a meeting with Clinton, according to a Fox News Digital review. And on Aug. 20, 2021, his public calendar lists a meeting with Soros but hid the meeting's agenda, which his private calendar shows was to discuss a forthcoming Wall Street Journal op-ed the business magnate was planning to write.

Gensler's private calendar revealing the discrepancies was obtained by the watchdog group Energy Policy Advocates and shared with Fox News Digital. The group was only able to obtain the internal records after filing a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the SEC.

In recent days, around the time Fox News Digital contacted the SEC, the agency updated Gensler's public calendar to include his meeting with Clinton in August 2021. As recently as Wednesday the public calendar didn't include the meeting, and archived copies of the webpage from April also list just a meeting with staff.

An SEC spokesperson first responded to an inquiry by saying the public calendar listed the Clinton meeting. When sent a screen capture of the calendar showing the Clinton meeting wasn't listed, the spokesperson responded by saying that the agency updates calendars "from time to time" when it discovers that something is missing or inaccurate.

Gensler, a former Goldman Sachs executive and Obama administration official, was the chief financial officer for Clinton's presidential campaign in 2016. The Senate confirmed him to lead the SEC in April 2021, shortly after President Joe Biden selected him for the high-profile position.

Archived copies of Gensler's public calendar also show the SEC hid September 2021 meetings with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Washington, D.C.-based consultant Minyon Moore, a former White House official. The public calendar has now been updated to show those meetings as well.

AP Admits Alex Jones Trial Was Just For ‘Show’ And Will Soon Be Thrown Out

According to a recent report by the Associated Press, the Alex Jones trial was all just a show and is likely to be tossed out on appeal since the case is rests on questionable legal grounds.

Attorney Tre Lovell told the AP on Sunday that Jones has “significant issues” he can present on appeal, including the fact Jones was defaulted by the courts before the Texas and Connecticut trials even began.

“This is far from over. Alex Jones You know, there’s a number of things that you can do. First of all, he’s going to appeal, according to his attorneys, and there are some significant issues on appeal,” Lovell told AP. “This is a very unusual trial. The court basically put him in default and they went straight to damages. And that’s very unusual.”

“And that’s a very draconian ruling by a court that’s a ruling that’s the last choice a court will have. And a court of appeal is going to really scrutinize that,” he said. “A judge is required to, if a litigant is not participating in discovery or is violating, you know, the litigation standards…there’s a number of things that a judge can do before actually putting in default.”

Abstract
Cost of illness research has established that mental disorders lead to significant social burden and massive financial costs. A significant gap exists for the economic burden of many personality disorders, including psychopathic personality disorder (PPD). In the current study, we used a top-down prevalence-based cost of illness approach to estimate bounded crime cost estimates of PPD in the United States and Canada. Three key model parameters (PPD prevalence, relative offending rate of individuals with PPD, and national costs of crime for each country) were informed by existing literature. Sensitivity analyses and Monte Carlo simulations were conducted to provide bounded and central tendency estimates of crime costs, respectively. The estimated PPD-related costs of crime ranged from $245.50 billion to $1,591.57 billion (simulated means = $512.83 to $964.23 billion) in the United States and $12.14 billion to $53.00 billion (simulated means = $25.33 to $32.10 billion) in Canada. These results suggest that PPD may be associated with a substantial economic burden as a result of crime in North America. Recommendations are discussed regarding the burden–treatment discrepancy for PPD, as the development of future effective treatment for the disorder may decrease its costly burden on health and justice systems. Multiple blasts rocked the Ukrainian capital on Wednesday morning in a predawn raid, sending residents across Kiev into bomb shelters and underground metro stations as air sirens blared. The sirens rang out while the attack occurred for over half an hour as drones hovered under the cover of darkness.

Ukrainian officials said air defense systems were activated against the inbound suicide drones, and claimed to have shot down a total of 13. Mayor Vitali Klitschko identified them as Shahed drones which reportedly targeted the city's energy infrastructure.

Klitschko cited explosions in the central Shevchenkivskyi district, with resulting damage to two administrative buildings, but no casualties have been reported. It was the first significant Russian assault on the capital in days.

Ukrainian air force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat said in the attack aftermath that "The air defenses worked well," detailing that "Thirteen (drones) were shot down." President Zelensky in follow-up told his forces: "Well done, I am proud," in a brief video message hailing the performance of the air defense units.

These attacks are expected to hasten Biden administration decision-making surrounding whether to send Patriot anti-air missile defense systems to the Ukrainians, marking a significant escalation with Russia. However, even if Patriots for Ukraine are approved, it's likely to take multiple months for them to deploy on the battlefield, given also the Ukrainians would have to be trained on their operation.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) will serve another term in Congress after a recount showed she triumphed in her reelection bid, Colorado officials confirmed late Dec. 12.

The mandatory recount, triggered because the margin between Boebert and her challenger was within 0.5 percent, “reconfirmed that Representative Lauren Boebert is the winner of the race,” the office of Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold said.

Boebert represents Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.

A recount of a Colorado House race also showed that Marine veteran Robert Marshall, a Democrat, won.

“The mandatory recount for U.S. Congressional District 3 and permissive recount of House District 43 are complete and have confirmed the results of the races,” Griswold said in a statement.

“Colorado’s elections are safe, secure, and accurate,” she added. “I commend the election workers from across the state and my office for conducting these recounts and for their continued work to make Colorado the best place to cast a ballot.”

Boebert, 35, has not commented on the development, but shared posts on social media noting Griswold’s announcement.

Jeep has recalled nearly 63,000 plug-in hybrid Wranglers due to a software glitch that could shut the engine down and cause a vehicle crash without warning. Dealers have been banned from selling any more of these vehicles until proper repairs can be made.

According to a notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), all of the 62,909 vehicles that are covered by the recall have this potentially dangerous defect. It affects 2021 and 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe models with 2.0L Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle engines.

The Jeeps in question could experience an engine shutdown as a result of “diagnostic reactions to faults caused by loss of communication,” according to the notice. Jeep will be updating calibration software for the vehicle’s hybrid control processor, auxiliary hybrid control processor and transmission control module to correct the problem, according to the NHTSA.

For many hybrid Jeep owners, the recall was a long time coming. Jeep’s parent company, Chrysler, started investigating reports of the problem in September of 2021. After conducting an analysis that took longer than a year, they found multiple complaints and warranty claims. So far, two accidents and one injury have been potentially linked to the problem.

While the appearance that rats are being sold at a New York City store and being openly cooked may be quite jarring, the creatures are actually guinea pigs, which when prepared properly are a Peruvian cultural delicacy known as “cuy.”

EU Parliament Bribery Plot: Murky and Ever Thickening

The corruption scandal plaguing the EU Parliament has proven more extensive than assumed. After discovering Qatar sought to use bribery to steer the institution, Belgian investigators are looking askance at another nation that might have tried to do the same: Morocco.

According to court documents that De Morgen was able to consult, former MEP Pier Antonio Panzeri (S&D), a key figure in the elaborate scheme, was advising active MEPs within the S&D (Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats) on policy that would favor not only Qatar but Morocco as well.

The Moroccan ambassador in Poland, the documents claim, is presumed to have made the arrangements. As a reward for Panzeri’s and his associates’ efforts, payment—whether by cash or by other material goods—was made.

The European Parliament has drawn unwanted attention to itself since Belgian investigators conducted searches last weekend as part of the anti-corruption investigation.

Belgian courts strongly suspect that Qatar has been trying to influence decision-making by offering large sums of money and lavish gifts to individuals holding strategically important positions within the EU Parliament. This becomes extra controversial because of the country’s poor record with respect to workers’ rights, particularly regarding the dangerous conditions during the building of football stadiums ahead of the World Cup.

On Tuesday, December 13th, in his first remarks on the events of the past couple of days, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said, somewhat accusatory: “Belgian justice is doing what, at first sight, the European Parliament has not done.” As he applauded the work of Belgian law enforcement, he noted that “the European Parliament has a lot of means to regulate itself,” but that apparently, “this is largely a system of auto-control based on voluntary efforts, which has clearly not been sufficient.”

The same day, in a repeat of Friday, police sealed off 10 more offices in the European Parliament’s Strasbourg headquarters—offices which are all linked to the individuals targeted in the Brussels raids. The one belonging to Mychelle Rieu, an official working on the Parliament’s subcommittee on human rights, was among them. After police seized some computer equipment, the office was unsealed.

In addition, the office of an assistant to Italian MEP Pietro Bartolo (who, like most of the suspects, also belongs to the S&D group), was sealed off.

At the time of writing, an estimated €1.5 million in cash has been seized during searches in Belgium and abroad. The largest amount, about €600,000, was found last Friday in the Brussels home of Panzeri.

The Washington Post will conduct layoffs in the coming year, publisher Fred Ryan told employees during a town hall on Wednesday. Recently, we have made some of the largest investments in The Post’s history and 2023 will be another year of continued investment.”

Two years ago, BitChute became the target of an "activist group" that attempted to shut us down by pressuring our suppliers. As a result, we lost some server hosting, our office space, and other suppliers. We also lost our bank account with HSBC. A bank account we had held in good standing and without any issues since we launched in 2017.

We initially tried to open a new account with a different bank and transfer our money. However, the new bank rejected us just as the funds had reached them. Our money was returned to HSBC, but we could no longer access it, and even today, we still have not retrieved our money from HSBC.

In August 2021, after failing to get a resolution through the HSBC complaints process, we requested arbitration through the UK’s banking Ombudsman. We were informed of a long wait due to Covid, which had resulted in many bank-related problems for businesses. It wouldn’t be until November 2022 that our case would be assigned.

Since arbitration started we have provided many details including the bank account where HSBC could send our money. Within a week of handing over that information, that new bank account was suspended without notice. We informed the Ombudsman that we do not want to give HSBC additional bank accounts and prefer any transfer from HSBC use a third party such as escrow, even a bag of cash would do. A necessary action that will likely lengthen the process.

It’s happening again…

That happened 19 days ago, and we still have not been able to get our money from that bank even though we have informed them that we need it urgently to pay bills. It’s not clear for what reason they are keeping it.

Now, nearly at the end of 2022, two different banks have our money, HSBC has held it for almost two years.

Twitter also faces two significant lawsuits involving two minor survivors allegedly exploited on that platform. In one case, a video garnered more than 160,000 views and over 2,000 retweets. Yet, Twitter allegedly refused to remove the content, despite the minor survivor requesting its removal while on the brink of suicide.
