The solution was found but for the record, here's some info that might be useful to others:
BO has to enable preformatted text, aka "code" in posts, there's an option among the board settings.
The HTML element that gets created is the pre element. In CSS select that to style the code.

Please report abuse and any CP. We need to make sure endchan doesn't end up another abused shithole.

No, I can't. It throws up a message box which says "Connection Failed" or something similar. Which is why I resorted to this old thread.

I even went so far as to enable javascript in my attempts to report, something I am loath to do. Believe me, I do want to do my part. I will not struggle with a broken system, however.

We are planning to move the database to another server in order to prevent some issues users might experienced, chiefly the threads turning 404 for no apparent reason.
We have no exact date just yet, we will tell ofc when we figured that out.
Users should be prepared for a couple of hours downtime - we will be reachable on IRC, Telegram, Discord, and on our cytube channel (where we'll be providing some stream).
On Twitter however we are unreachable (it's locked).
